Keep in mind that the best wat to prevent skin cancer is to protect yourself from the sun’s UV rays. This means staying out of the sun at peak times, wearing proper sunscreen and protective clothing when outdoors.

If you think you may have skin cancer, please get checked out by a healthcare professional. The earlier skin cancer is detected, the better the survival rate.

Agency (also referred to as free agency or moral agency), in Latter-day Saint theology, is “the privilege of choice which was introduced by God the Eternal Father to all of his spirit children in the premortal state”.[1] Mortal life is viewed as a test of faith, where our choices are central to the Plan of Salvation. “It was essential for their eternal progression that they be subjected to the influences of both good and evil”.[1] Mormons believe that Lucifer presented an alternative plan, which resulted in a war in heaven, with Lucifer being cast out of heaven and becoming Satan.

Mormons further believe that all individuals have the ability to determine the difference between good and evil.[3] Mormons further believe that Satan and his followers are not able to tempt people beyond the point where they can resist.[4] This implies that mortals can be held accountable for our actions;[5] mortals will be judged by God based on a combination of our faith and works.

LaDainian Tomlinson is just one big-name player who will be available when free agency begins on March 5. Keep track of all the offseason moves as they happen. …

From http://www.nfl.com/freeagency : Off and running Free agency is under way. Track all of the moves as they happen, including the Bears landing the prize of this free-agent class, Julius Peppers.

What causes skin cancer and what are the effects?

Well, I am 13, and I have gotten two severe sunburns this past month. My mom said they were pretty bad, and they can cause skin cancer in the future. Is this really true? If not what are the real causes of skin cancer? What are the effects?

Skin Cancer Causes
Ultraviolet (UV) light exposure, most commonly from sunlight, is overwhelmingly the most frequent cause of skin cancer.

Other important causes of skin cancer include the following:

* Use of tanning booths

* Immunosuppression—impairment of the immune system, which protects the body from foreign entities, such as germs or substances that cause an allergic reaction. This may occur as a consequence of some diseases or can be due to medications prescribed to combat autoimmune diseases or prevent organ transplant rejection.

* Exposure to unusually high levels of x-rays

* Contact with certain chemicals—arsenic (miners, sheep shearers, and farmers), hydrocarbons in tar, oils, and soot (may cause squamous cell carcinoma)
Regarding your mother’s comment, people who had at least one severe sunburn early in life have a greater risk of developing skin cancer. Mom is right!
Treatment for basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma is straightforward. Usually, surgical removal of the lesion is adequate. Malignant melanoma, however, may require several treatment methods, including surgery, radiation therapy, and chemotherapy.

How does skin cancer start out looking like?
Lately I have had little bumps not huge but like almost skin scab looking things (not scabs though). And I am in the sun doing activities a lot and I was wondering if it almost seems like it can or be a possibility of skin cancer? I’m not sure.

I think that whatever you have, you should consult the dermatologist right away. I used to work in a medical show and we featured this young guy who initially had skin cancer. Now, half of his face is gone just because he thought that what he had was a new mole. It started just like a simple dot–really like a mole– but it started growing and becoming a wound. The thing is, cancer–not just skin cancer– manifests in several ways. That same guy first thought he had skin cancer but actually, the doctors found out later that it was muscle cancer.

How high are my chances of getting skin cancer?
Yesterday I was at the pool with my friend, and she told me I have high chances of getting skin cancer. I have blond hair, blue eyes, very pale skin, I get burned easily, lots of moles and beauty marks, and I actually have a family history of cancer. She said these all made my chances higher of getting skin cancer. If so, should I use more sunscreen? What SPF? How can I help prevent skin cancer but still go outside regularly? Thanks for all of your help!

There are simple things you can do to try and protect yourself from skin cancer.
1) Wear a hat when you know you’ll be outside for longer than half an hour. It doesn’t have to be a full blown sun hat, a baseball or newsboy hat will do.
2) If you know that you’ll at the beach or the pool, make sure you apply SPF 50 sunscreen.
3) The suns UV rays are strongest the hours between 11am and 4pm.
4) Remember, concrete sand and water can reflect the suns rays, so even if you are just going to the park you can put on a little bit of sunscreen.
5) If you were make up ever day, they make foundations with SPF 15 in them.
6) Wear chap stick or put in on under any other lip products(Lip gloss, lip stick) because chap stick normally has SPF 5 in it.
7) Don’t go sun tanning or to tanning salons, because these both will increase your chances of radiation.

Skin cancer is a malignant growth on the skin which can have many causes. The most common skin cancers are basal cell cancer, squamous cell cancer, and melanoma. Skin cancer generally develops in the epidermis (the outermost layer of skin), so a tumor is usually clearly visible. This makes most skin cancers detectable in the early stages. There are three common and likely types of skin cancer, each of which is named after the type of skin cell from which it arises. Unlike many other cancers, including those originating in the lung, pancreas, and stomach, only a small minority of those afflicted will actually die of the disease.[1] Skin cancer represents the most commonly diagnosed cancer, surpassing lung, breasts, colorectal and prostate cancer.[1] Melanoma is less common than basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, but it is the most serious—for example, in the UK there are 9,500 new cases of melanoma each year, and 2,300 deaths.[2] It is the most common cancer in the young population (20 – 39 age group).[3] It is estimated that approximately 85% of cases are caused by too much sun.[citation needed] Non-melanoma skin cancers are the most common skin cancers. The majority of these are called basal cell carcinomas. These are usually localized growths caused by excessive cumulative exposure to the sun and do not tend to spread.

Scientists are saying that the Sun’s surface is eerily devoid of activity at the moment. It’s “Like the quiet before a storm,” says NASA. When the sun’s surface quiets down, we can expect an incredible burst of activity in the form of communications disrupting solar flares and storms. This is referred to as a maxima in an 11-year cycle of sunspots. But there is one glimmer of hope. Scientists are unsure how to predict these maxima and admit that the upcoming maxima in 2012 could be as viscious as in 1958, or as meek as in 1805. We can “expect to see the first sunspots of the next cycle appear in late 2006 or 2007—and Solar Max to be underway by 2010 or 2011,” says David Hathaway of the National Space Science & Technology Center (NSSTC).
Cramps are unpleasant, often painful sensations caused by contraction or over-shortening of muscles. Cramps can be caused by cold, overexertion or low calcium level in blood (especially for adolescents, who need calcium for both blood and bone maturing) though the most common reason is low sodium and potassium levels in blood accompanied by excessive dehydration. Illness or poisoning can also cause cramps, particularly in the stomach, which is referred to as colic if it fits particular characteristics.

Stomach cramps: IntroductionExactly what people mean when they say “stomach cramps” is not entirely clear. The most correct interpretation is the stomach muscle spasms, with associated pain, but many people use the term loosely to mean any kind of stomach discomfort, stomach ache, abdominal discomfort or abdominal pain. People may say “stomach cramps” when they are really cramps of the intestines. Thus, to determine the cause of stomach cramps, it may be necessary to examine other areas such as the causes of symptoms such as abdominal pain, abdominal cramping, stomach ache, abdominal bloating, menstrual cramps or other types of abdominal discomfort.

“Stomach cramps are usually a painful squeezing sensation that comes and goes over a span of minutes. They crescendo up and then decrease,” says Bruce Luxson, M.D., Ph.D., assistant professor of gastroenterology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine in Missouri. The squeezing sensation does not always originate in your stomach, by the way. Sometimes the trouble is further down.

Take, for example, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)—a troubling and unexplained digestive problem that can cause pain, cramps, diarrhea and constipation. What you perceive as stomach cramps are actually spasms of the intestines. “In less severe cases of IBS, you get cramps when you have the urge to go to the bathroom, and they go away after you’ve defecated,” says Andrew H. Soll, M.D., a professor of medicine and director of the affiliated training program for gastroenterology at the University of California at Los Angeles and chief of gastroenterology at Veterans Administration Hospital.

What you put in your mouth is another common cause of stomach cramps. Lactose intolerance—the inability to digest the sugar in dairy products—affects a third of Americans and can cause cramps. Downing spoiled potato salad at your company picnic—or any other inappropriately handled food—usually leads to a bacterial battle down below called food poisoning that features cramping, vomiting and sometimes diarrhea. And not enough fiber or water are the leading causes of both constipation and diarrhea, often linked to cramping, says Dr. Luxson.

Diverticulosis is a disease characterized by small pouches filled with stool or irritating bacteria that form on the muscle wall of your small bowel. It not only causes spasms and cramping, but hemorrhaging as well, says Dr. Soll. Another medical problem—viral infection—can also cause cramps.

Stress also apparently plays a role in stomach cramps for children as well as adults, says John Boyle, M.D., a gastroenterologist and chief of pediatric gastroenterology at Rainbow Babies and Childrens Hospital in Cleveland. “It doesn’t cause the cramps, but it can bring them on,” he says.

I fell around 6 feet and landed on my heels instead of my toes. A few hours later, it became more and more painful. I cannot even walk with my heels making contact with the ground. I must walk in tip toes wherever I go.

Calcaneus fractures are almost always the result of high-energy injuries. They usually occur as a result of a fall from a height, such as falling from a ladder. Other causes of a calcaneus fracture include automobile accidents and sports injuries.
What are the symptoms of a calcaneus fracture?
Calcaneus fractures cause significant swelling and pain of the back of the foot.

Symptoms of a calcaneus fracture include:
Inability to walk
Swelling of the foot
Bruising of the foot
Severe heel pain
Most calcaneus fractures are closed injuries, meaning the skin is intact. When the skin around the calcaneus fracture is broken, this may represent an open, also called a compound, fracture. An open fracture of the calcaneus is a surgical emergency.

Bronchitis is an inflammation of the lining of your bronchial tubes, which carry air to and from your lungs. Bronchitis may be either acute or chronic.

Symptoms
Symptoms of acute bronchitis usually begin 3 to 4 days after an upper respiratory infection, such as a cold or influenza (flu). Symptoms usually include:

A cough, which is the main symptom of acute bronchitis. It may be dry at first (does not produce mucus) and after a few days may bring up mucus from the lungs (productive cough). The mucus may be clear, yellow, or green. Sometimes, small streaks of blood may be present.
A mild fever, usually less than 101°F (38.3°C). A higher fever may indicate pneumonia.
A general feeling of tiredness.
A sensation of tightness, burning, or dull pain in the chest under the breastbone that usually is worse when breathing deeply or coughing.
Whistling noises (wheezing) when breathing, especially during physical exertion.
Hoarseness.

Causes:
A common condition, acute bronchitis often develops from a cold or other respiratory infection. Chronic bronchitis, a more serious condition, is a constant irritation or inflammation of the lining of the bronchial tubes, often due to smoking.

Treatment Overview
Treatment for acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy people usually includes taking steps to reduce cough, fever, and pain. Prescription medicines, such as antibiotics, generally are not beneficial. If you already have a disease, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), heart failure, or asthma, evaluation and treatment may be more extensive.

Most cases of acute bronchitis go away in 2 to 3 weeks, but some may last more than 4 weeks. Home treatment to relieve symptoms is usually all that is necessary.

Medications
Most cases of acute bronchitis in otherwise healthy people go away in 2 to 3 weeks. You generally only need nonprescription medicines to treat your symptoms. Most people do not need to use prescription medicines, such as antibiotics.
